UPDATE: Michaud Creek Fire threatening buildings

UPDATE 9/15/18 6:02 P.M.: The Fort Hall Fire Department responded to a structural fire south of the Pocatello Airport at 1:09 P.M.

People inside buildings were evacuated safely.

Two structures were lost and it is now estimated at 262 acres.

Fort Hall Fire received help from Chubbuck Fire, Pocatello Fire, Pocatello Valley Fire, Bureau of Land Management, Power County Fire, Inkom Ifre, Fort Hall Fish and Game and Idaho State Police.

Traffic control was provided by Idaho State Police.

Michaud Creek road is closed to through traffic.

UPDATE 9/15/18 4:13 P.M.: Four power poles have burned down.

About 67 Idaho Power customers are without power in the Michaud Creek area and surrounding areas.

Some customers along Highway 30 are without power.

Crews are on site working on it but there is no estimated time for restoration as of yet.

A smoke hazard has been issued between Ext 52 and the Exit 56 on I-86.

UPDATE 9/15/18 3:21 P.M.: The Bureau of Land Management reports that the Michaud Creek Fire is two miles south of the Pocatello Airport on Bureau of Indian Affairs Land.

It is about 10 acres.

Fire crews are hoping to have the fire contained by 10 P.M. tomorrow.

There are buildings that are threatened.

There are four engines, 1 dozer and 1 Type 3 IC.

No evacuations have been called for.

No roads have been closed.

ORIGINAL STORY: Firefighters from Fort Hall and Bannock County are battling a large fire near the Pocatello Sod and Green Works.

Idaho State Police is currently helping Power County with traffic control on I-86 near milepost 55 about five miles west of Pocatello near the airport.

Smoke from the fire is causing very low visibility for drivers in the area.

ISP is asking drivers to use caution while going through the area.

Local News 8 and Eyewitness 3 has a crew heading to the fire right now.
