Roosevelt fire continues to grow under red flag conditions

The human caused Roosevelt fire near Bondurant, Wyoming has grown to 60,762 acres Sunday. 55 structures have been confirmed lost, although more may yet be discovered.

There are 1,176 personnel assigned to the nation’s top priority fire, which is now about 45 percent contained.

Stage 1 fire restrictions remain in effect.

Highway 191 is fully open. While further closures are not expected, they may be necessary depending on fire activity.

The evacuation level in Zones 1, 2, and 3 have been reduced to the “SET” level. Zone 8, around the Jim Bridger Estates, is in “GO” status and no one should be in that area.

Closure areas will not change Sunday.

A red flag warning remains in effect today for strong winds and dry fuels. According to fire managers, firefighters are making steady progress in securing fire lines to prevent movement to the east around the Jim Bridger Estates.

Recovery efforts continue in the Hoback Ranches in preparation for an organized re-entry of residents into the area. Those efforts are likely to continue for several days until it is safe for residents to return.
