Brush fire started by lawn mower

A brush fire on the north side of ‘No Name’ road in Fort Hall threatened residential homes on the west side of the fire around 1:00 p.m. Monday.

Officials report the fire was contained in the field where it started and burned about 5 acres.

There were no injuries or loss of property.

According to officials, the fire appears to have started from a lawn mower that sparked when cutting weeds on a ditch bank.

“Even though the weather is cooling down, the fire danger is still Very High,” said Fort Hall Fire Chief, Brian Briggs. “Please contact your local fire department about the current fire conditions and any burn bans in effect.”

Local fire units from Fort Hall, Blackfoot and BIA Wildland Fire responded to the fire.
