New Museum of Idaho exhibit showcases local artists

The Museum of Idaho opened an exhibit full of steampunk art created by local artists on Thursday.

There are 27 paintings, drawings, photos and more media that were inspired by the current Discover Steampunk exhibit.

This new exhibit represents a collaboration between The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho and MOI, which both encouraged and invited artists to take part in the exhibits.

“It’s really wonderful when we’re able to bring in these different ideas here in our community and we’re able to really see the talent that’s here in our community,” said Carrie Anderson Athay, the curator at MOI. “We’re able to work together to create something that’s inspiring and to see how we can develop this, grow art and ideas right here.”

The artwork is on display in the museum’s first-floor event space and is open to the public.

Most of the artwork is for sale, ranging from $75 up to $2,500. Sales of the artwork benefit both the local artists and MOI.

The exhibit will be on display through Nov. 15.
