10 eastern Idaho schools receive funds for wellness programs

Dairy West is giving 39 Gem State schools, including 10 in eastern Idaho, grants to support their Fuel
Up to Play 60 initiatives.

Hundreds of schools from across the country applied for funding to help them jumpstart and sustain healthy nutrition and physical activity improvements.

The list of eastern Idaho recipients includes:

Central Elementary School (Sugar-Salem Joint School District) — $3,690 Eagle Rock Junior High School (Idaho Falls School District) — $3,350 Jefferson Elementary School (Jefferson School District) — $2,364 Kershaw Intermediate School (Sugar-Salem Joint School District) — $3,850 Lincoln Elementary School (Madison School District) — $2,100 Lindy Ross Elementary School (Clark School District) — $3,331 Paris Elementary School (Bear Lake School District) — $1,000 Rigby Senior High School (Jefferson County Joint School District) — $4,000 Ririe High School (Ririe Joint School District) — $4,000 Taylor’s Crossing Public Charter School (Idaho Falls) — $3,800

Fuel Up to Play 60 is designed to engage and empower youth to take action for their own health by implementing long-term, positive changes for themselves and their schools.

The program is designed to help prevent childhood obesity and help youth develop life-long healthy eating and daily physical activity habits.

Grants awarded for this funding period totaled $129,138.
