Boo at the Zoo is back and gets people ready for the Halloween season

As we creep closer to Halloween, the Idaho Falls Zoo is putting on its annual “Boo at the Zoo” this weekend. One of Idaho Falls’ largest fundraisers, the event has lights, decorations, costume contests, plenty of games and trick-or-treat stations to help get you in the Halloween spirit.

Hosted by Tautphaus Park Zoological Society (TPZS), this year’s Boo at the Zoo features some the of classic displays put on each time, as well as some new ones. People will be able to walk through “Harry Potter” themes in the Children’s Zoo, princesses in the gift shop and “Minecraft” in the Primate Center.

Timberline Garrison will also be on deck with their special photo backdrop on Friday night, where people will be able to pose with Star Wars characters.

Costume contests will be held nightly at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The zoo has opened up space on the former county fairgrounds for more booths, added a third entrance and added 10 additional trick-or-treat stations in the area south of the zoo. You can now enter the event on the north, south and east sides of the zoo. Parking for the event will be located in the field north of the zoo and throughout Tautphaus Park, and limited space will be available in the former county fairgrounds lot.

Boo at the Zoo will be held on Oct. 25-27. Gates open at 5 p.m, and last admission is at 8:30 p.m. Zoo grounds will be cleared by 9:00 p.m.

Tickets are $5 for ages 3 and up before the event or at the gates if paid in cash. Tickets purchased at the door with a credit or debit card are $7. Children 2 and under are free.
