Why you may save 12 cents on your power bill this year
Rocky Mountain Power customers could see a 12 cent break on their annual 2019 electricity bill.
The company has proposed a 0.01% overall decrease on bills for its 82,000 Idaho customers. The adjustment is the result of recent changes in the cost of providing energy to customers, combined with adjustments from federal tax charges. The result is a decrease in cost of $131,000.
According to Rocky Mountain Power, the annual energy cost adjustment mechanism is designed to track the difference between the company’s actual expenses for fuel and other costs to provide electricity to customers, against the amount being collected from customers through current rates. While these costs were higher in 2018, that amount is more than offset by savings from the 2018 Federal Tax Act.
