Idaho teacher facing felony charges
A third-grade teacher in south-central Idaho accused of injuring a man in front of three small children is facing three felony charges.
The Times-News reports 36-year-old Tawna Day Huttanus was charged early this week in 5th District Court with battery with intent to commit a serious felony, injury to a child and domestic battery or assault in the presence of a child.
Police say Huttanus, a teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in Jerome, was taken into custody at a home in Jerome on Sunday after police responded a report of a man covered in blood.
Court records say the man told police Huttanus tried to stab him in the neck.
Police say they found Huttanus in the house sitting in a crib with a large kitchen knife and holding an infant. Police say an officer took the knife, preventing injury to the infant.
It’s not clear from online court records if Huttanus has an attorney.
