Hundreds hunt down Easter eggs in Ucon

The Ucon Fire Department hid 15,000 eggs for kids to find in Simmons Park in Ucon on Saturday.

The eggs were filled with candy and sweet prizes. About 1,200 of the eggs had ticket prizes inside, including tickets for free meals, movies and bikes and scooters.

The Ucon Fire Department also put together Easter baskets for kids at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center who could not make it to Easter egg hunts. The Fire Department said its favorite part of delivering the baskets is seeing the children’s reactions.

“Just the looks on their face. They don’t expect it,” said Chief Scott Norman. “(A lot of the) nurses specifically stay just for that, just the looks on their faces. Someone cares enough about them when they’re down and out to bring them a basket.”

The Fire Department wants to thank all those who donated. The Ucon Annual Easter Egg Hunt is 100 percent run on donations.
