Idaho Falls man sentenced for hit and run accident

Kacey Spencer, 24, was sentenced Friday in connection with the hit and run injury of a then 15-year-old boy.

The boy, later identified as Keeton Dogget, was struck by a pickup on August 24, 2017 while he was riding his bicycle home from work at Arctic Circle near the intersection of 1st Street and 25th East. He was hospitalized and spent many weeks recovering.

Spencer was initially charged one year later with a felony for leaving the scene of an injury accident.

On April 4, Spencer entered a plea agreement. He was sentenced Friday to two misdemeanor counts. They were failure to provide proof of insurance and failure to give immediate notice of an accident. He was sentenced to 120 days in jail, 114 days suspended, and two years of supervised probation.
