Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho kicked off construction
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho kicked off construction for the new Ronald McDonald Family Room in Idaho Falls.
At the construction kickoff, key stakeholders and supporters of the Family Room shared their thoughts about the project.
Speakers at the event included Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center CEO Jeff Solis, RMHC of Idaho Past President and Board Member Darren Kyle and a past family who’s benefitted from the Ronald McDonald House program.
These individuals took part in the ceremonial ‘hammer swing.’
Fundraising efforts for the Family Room will continue, with less than $100,000 remaining to reach the $766,000 goal.
The Family Room is expected to begin serving families in late summer of 2019.
“This will allow these parents and families a quiet place to get something to eat, take a shower, do laundry, watch tv, take a nap, or even stay the night, steps away from their hospitalized child,” Director of Programs Warren Maxfield said.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room will provide a home-like environment for parents and families of children receiving treatment at EIRMC.
“When children are sick, the thing they need most is family,” Maxfield said. “The Ronald McDonald Family Room will help keep these families together during those critical times.”
The Family Room will be staffed by RMHC of Idaho employees and through the generous efforts of community volunteers.
