Idaho Falls Auditorium District names Director

Former University of Idaho Athletic Director Rob Spear has been named executive director of the Idaho Falls Auditorium District. He succeeds Chip Scott, who resigned earlier this year for family reasons.

District Chair Terry Gazdik said the board felt Spear was the right person for the position. She said he was a proven fundraiser responsible for several multi-million dollar gifts to the University of Idaho. He managed over $50 million in construction projects ranging from athletic facilities to bio engineering buildings.

“I want to commend the IFAD Board for doing its due diligence and thoroughly understanding the facts surrounding my departure from the University of Idaho,” said Spear. “That is one of the reasons I am so excited to assume this position for the Idaho Auditorium District. It was obvious during my interactions with the IFAD Board that they have a collective vision and commitment to seeing this project succeed. Their passion for the community of Idaho Falls is obvious and I am excited to help move this project across the finish line. “

Spear earned his doctorate degree from the University of Idaho, MBA from the University of Montana, and undergraduate degree in business from the College of Great Falls, now the University of Providence.

The Idaho State Board of Education released Spear as UI Athletic Director last August. A board investigation found he failed to properly report past sexual assault allegations involving student athletes.
