Governor names “efficiency” working group

Lieutenant Governor Janice McGeachin has been selected to lead a working group to identify how to make state agencies operate more efficiently in regional offices.

Governor Brad Little signed an executive order creating the panel Thursday.

“It’s important for citizens across Idaho to access state government services close to home,” Governor Little said. “My executive order seeks to improve customer service at regional state agency offices by identifying any inefficiencies so that government uses taxpayer dollars as responsibly and effectively as possible.”

McGeachin said she believes its the natural propensity of government to become increasingly inefficient.

The working group will include 12 people, including one citizen from each of the state’s seven regions. Little said it would spend 18 months in review before making recommendations to the Governor.

“We will invest our time and energy into making sure that state agencies exist to serve the people of Idaho and to improve their lives,” Lt. Governor McGeachin added.

All but one of the group’s representatives have been confirmed:

Chair Lt. Governor Janice McGeachin
Governor’s Office Bobbi-Jo Meuleman
