Chukars fall in battle of division leaders

The first place Idaho Falls Chukars drop the series opener with south division leading Ogden 9-3 Wednesday night at Melaleuca Field.

The Raptors (18-6) put four runs on the board in the top of the second inning. The first two came after a throwing error by pitcher Anthony Veneziano with the bases loaded. Andy Pages would double in the other two runs.

The Chukars (14-8) would answer with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame. A Michael Emodi single followed by a fielding error allowed Rhett Aplin to score. Next batter, Ismaldo Rodriguez would triple in Emodi.

Sauryn Lao would provide much of the Ogden offense from there getting RBI’s in the third, fifth and seventh innings.

The series continues Thursday at Melaleuca Field. First pitch set for 7:15 pm.
