Firefighters respond to several fires

Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Center firefighters responded to several fires Sunday as a lightning storm swept through the area.

Firefighters will continue to patrol southeast Idaho Monday looking for additional fires from the storm that might pop up as temperatures continue to rise.

Caddy Canyon – The Caddy Canyon fire is expected to be fully controlled at 9:00 p.m. Monday. This fire started approximately two miles west of Inkom and grew to 11.5 acres. A blown tire along the interstate was determined to be the cause of this fire.

North Leigh – The North Leigh Fire is located about six miles east of Tetonia, Idaho. The cause of this fire is lightning. Crews contained the fire to .1 acre and were able to control it by 8:00 p.m. Sunday night.

Moonshine – The Moonshine Fire also ignited due to lightning. It is located approximately seven miles southwest of Pocatello in the Arbon Valley area. Crews hiked into the fire and contained it to .1 acre at 8:30 last night.

Brush Creek – The Brush Creek Fire was reported early Monday morning. Two engines are responding to the smoke report. The fire is reported to be approximately seven miles southwest of Malad in the Samaria Mountain range.
