Grizzly bear relocated

Wyoming Game and Fish personnel captured and relocated an adult female grizzly bear last Saturday, August 24.

According to Game and Fish, the bear was a “non-target” capture while officers were attempting to mitigate cattle depredation on a U.S. Forest Service grazing allotment west of Dubois, Wyoming. The bear was relocated to Blackrock Creek drainage, about 20 miles east of Moran Junction.

Bears that are considered a threat to humans are not relocated. Relocation is intended to minimize conflicts between bears and humans and is considered critical to the management of the species.

The Blackrock Creek site was selected due to the lack of human presence in the area.
