Chubbuck teacher named “2026 SHAPE Idaho Middle School Teacher of the Year” award

CHUBBUCK, Idaho (KIFI)– After 25 years of teaching, Alpine Academy's Health and Fitness instructor Marcy Jordan won the "2026 SHAPE Idaho Middle School Teacher of the Year" award.

"I'm not really into awards. I'm going to be real honest. And I'm excited that people would see that what I'm doing is benefiting kids and the community," Jordan said.

Jordan says she keeps coming back to school after all these years because she gets back what she gives out.

"I love when the kids are happy and give back to me the way that I give to them. Truthfully, that's what I love the most," Jordan said.

She also says providing students with what they need moving forward in their education motivates her.

"Knowing that I am able to give them tools that help them move into high school and actually survive that chaos is probably one of the reasons that I come back every day," Jordan said.

She recently presented at the 2026 SHAPE Idaho Annual Conference at Boise State University. Her presentation focused on suicide prevention in middle schools.

"Honestly, I just want a good world where there's good people who are confident and strong and I just hope that that's the difference that I'm making," Jordan said.
