Grand jury indicts fight suspects

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - The two suspects in the death of Alexander Barber were in court Friday.

A grand jury indicted 18-year-old Taylor Aughenbaugh and 19-year-old Gabriel Perkins.

Both of them made their initial appearances Friday to hear their rights and grand jury charges.

Judge Wiley Dennert read the charges from the grand jury.

"Count one alleges second degree murder. The maximum penalties could be up to life in prison, up to $50,000 fine, plus restitution," Dennert said.

Perkins has been charged with second degree murder, battery, leaving the scene and destruction of evidence.

Aughenbaugh is indicted on two counts of battery with a deadly weapon and one count of concealing evidence.

These charges come after a fight in the Compass Academy parking lot on Feb. 12.

25-year-old Alexander Barber died in that incident, and two others were injured.

The case will now move ahead to District Court.

Aughenbaugh's and Perkin's next court date is March 19.
