Mountain America Center sees success going on 3 months of business

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – It's been a little more than two months since the Mountain American Center opened to the public for the first time.

The center's General Manager, Erik Hudson, says, "We've hosted well over 30 events now and I think that the community's impact on the building has been wonderful."

The Spud Kings Junior Hockey Team has developed a dedicated fan base selling out 16 of the 20 games. Lindsey Sterling, a violinist, was also very popular, selling out her tickets as well.

Despite online controversy over ticket and food prices, the event center has seen so much support, both from the community and tourists. Hudson says, "We represent over 600 different zip codes that have visited this building in the first 60 days that we've been open. 600 zip codes... You know, the surrounding region has about 40 to 50 of them. But there's another 400, 500 zip codes that have actually visited our building." This has helped boost the economy.

Demand is not expected to slow down in 2023. In February they will be announcing a new performance every week. "Not to mention, every event that we have in February is pretty much sold out. I think we're at 86% capacity."
