Idaho Falls Zoo needs volunteers

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - The Idaho Falls Zoo is closed to the public for the winter, but it still needs volunteers.

Volunteers at the zoo help the animals live in clean, healthy environments. Some walk the animals and make sure they get exercise.

The zoo’s mostly needs volunteers to help with its education programs. When the zoo is open, they help with exploration stations, presentations, and public engagement.

“And also this time of year off site with our zoo mobile to go out to community organizations like schools and retirement homes and such,” Idaho Falls Zoo’s volunteer coordinator Kathryn Farley said.

The zoo usually ranges from about 60 to 70 active volunteers in its adult program. It’s been low on numbers lately.

“With all of the things we’re hoping to accomplish in the future…if we were up near 100, we’d be set," Farley said.

Information on how to volunteer at the zoo can be found here.
