A tribute to our Veterans held on Wednesday

FIRTH, Idaho (KIFI) – For the 32nd consecutive year, Firth High School will be presenting their tribute to the Veterans of the United States of America on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023. It will honor those who have served our country.

Some have sacrificed their time and their knowledge and skills, while others and their families have given the ultimate sacrifice and have returned to this country in a flag draped casket.

This event is the brainchild of Teacher, Coach and Historian of the United States Military Stewart Portella, who has traveled extensively around the country, honoring the men and women who have served.

This year, Portella has selected Major Annie Gardner and Blake Sonny Alvarez to be guest speakers for the Veteran's Ceremony.

They also plan to ensure that each and every possible local veteran has been invited and will be recognized for their contributions, whether they be in war zones or in peace time deployment somewhere in the world.

They say it is so important to get each veteran recognized for their contributions to the safety of the country, and the world, no matter whether we are at war or at peace.

The ceremony is free for anyone to attend. It will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Firth High School.
