Police search for missing juvenile hunter
BINGHAM COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) - UPDATE 8:30 p.m. Police say search efforts for the day have been unsuccessful thus far.
Divers were dealing with water temperatures in the mid 30’s, and with darkness and falling temperatures, a difficult, but joint decision has been made to regroup and plan to reconvene in the morning.
"Our hearts go out to the family and friends, who have been nothing shy of amazing to work with. We also thank the great men and women of Search and Rescue who volunteer their time and resources at a moment’s notice to serve, Air Idaho Rescue for an aerial vantage point, and Aberdeen Fire / EMS for assistance on scene. Our search is not focused on a large area of land at this time, but rather the water. We’ve had several volunteers ask to help, but the unfortunate reality is specialized equipment and manpower is what we have and what is needed. We live in a great community where everyone is willing to stop everything and help each other out. We must never lose that mindset! However, with this circumstance the best thing that can be done is to avoid the area to mitigate the need for separate rescues or vehicle recoveries. It’s a difficult ask, but one that we are making. We don’t want to distract resources that are coordinated and focused on the task at hand. Please help us in that regard."
