Close school board race leads one candidate to call for recount

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - If you're looking for a reason as to why every vote counts, take a look at the results for the Idaho Falls School District 91 School Board seat 4 race. Both Elizabeth Cogliati and Shay Ricks shared 50% of the vote, with Ricks edging out for the win by one vote.

Cogliati says the race was close and because it was so close she is in the process of asking for a recount. But if the same results come back she says she'll be ready for what comes next.

"I'm going to continue to serve on the school board until my term runs out and just keep serving the people of this zone of D91," Cogliati said.

She said that even if she isn't on the school board come January she is still going to be looking for ways to serve the people of District 91.

"I'm just very honored to have been able to serve the people of D91 in Zone four. And I continue to hope that I can and moving forward," Cogliati said.

The Bonneville County Elections office shared they are still ratifying all of the results to make them official. Candidates will then be able to file for a recount, and take part in that process.

We will continue to update this story as the recount results come in.
