Hillcrest Knights edge Twin Falls Bruins 28-27 in state semifinal rematch

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) — The Hillcrest Knights defeated the Twin Falls Bruins 28-27 in a state semifinal rematch.


Twin Falls trailed 8-3 at halftime before mounting a second-half rally. Despite the effort from the Bruins, Hillcrest held on to earn the one-point victory.


Hillcrest built its lead behind the passing combination of Logan Taylor and Ethan Saunders. Taylor found Saunders deep for a touchdown to extend the Knights' lead. The duo connected again on a subsequent drive for another touchdown pass, which was followed by a successful two-point conversion.

Twin Falls stayed within striking distance with defensive and special teams scoring. Dax Payne returned a turnover for a touchdown to bring the Bruins within 14-9.

Later in the game, Twin Falls moved into the red zone, where quarterback Ethan Hubsmith completed a touchdown pass to Bryce Nielsen. Despite the second-half push by the Bruins, Hillcrest held off the comeback to secure the victory.
