Skyline High School defeats Century 35-24 in Pocatello

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) – Skyline High School defeated Century 35-24 tonight in Pocatello. Century took an early 7-0 lead before Skyline responded with back-to-back scoring drives to regain momentum.

Skyline's key plays began in the second quarter with quarterback John Giannini connecting on a long pass to Sam DeMott, who was brought down just short of the end zone. Riley Stewart then got pushed into the end zone by his teammates for a Grizzlies touchdown.

Century answered on its next possession as quarterback Teague Wheatley faked a handoff to Kendrail Hilary before completing a pass to Tito Villano. That drive was capped off with a successful field goal for the Diamondbacks.

Skyline pulled ahead when Dax Clinger scored a touchdown and followed with a successful two-point conversion run, giving the Grizzlies a 14-10 lead.

Late in the first half, Century quarterback Justice Mangum connected with a wide-open Villano downfield, but the Diamondbacks were unable to capitalize when the drive ended with a missed field goal attempt.

Skyline will take on the Pocatello Thunder next on September 11th, Century will take on Canyon Ridge that same day.
