Madison moves to 4-0 following 15-7 win over Mountain View

REXBURG, Idaho (KIFI) – The Madison Bobcats high school football team remains undefeated, securing a 15-7 victory against Mountain View. The win moved Madison to a 4-0 record on the season.

The Bobcats built their victory on a strong defensive showing, forcing three first-half turnovers to stifle Mountain View, if you count a "turnover on downs" as a turnover. Madison's offense capitalized on those opportunities, taking a 12-0 lead into halftime before holding on for the eight-point win.

Mountain View's opening drive ended on a fourth-down attempt when quarterback Ryder Hollifield threw toward the end zone. Defensive coverage by Jacob Wilkes forced an incomplete pass and a turnover on downs. On Mountain View's next fourth-down attempt later in the first quarter, Hollifield completed a pass to Logan Pichardo, but Jace Johnson and Grant Gugelman tackled him short of the first-down marker to force another turnover on downs.

In the second quarter, Collins Herschi deflected a pass into the air, allowing Johnson to grab an interception for Madison's third forced turnover of the opening half. Right before halftime, Madison expanded its lead when quarterback Hawke Cordero connected with Brahm Thompson for a touchdown pass to push the score to 12-0. Mountain View blocked the subsequent extra-point attempt.

Madison will look to improve to 5-0 next week when they hit the road to take on the Owyhee storm on September 18th.
