All-American Cleaning & Restoration Athlete of the Week – McKay Scoresby – Sep 17, 2026

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – Thunder Ridge Titans football player McKay Scoresby is contributing on both sides of the ball to help guide his team to a 2-1 record this season. Scoresby has established himself as a versatile player who can fill multiple roles on the field and is this week's All-American Cleaning & Restoration Athlete of the Week.

During last week's game against the Idaho Falls Tigers, Scoresby caught four passes for 50 yards and one touchdown. On defense and special teams, the senior registered two tackles, one sack, and a blocked punt that he returned for a touchdown, those stats coming from maxpreps.com

Thunder Ridge head coach Michael Berger praised Scoresby for taking on multiple roles across the roster.

“He's just a team player, he does whatever we ask of him,” Berger said. “He is our starting tight end. He'll block, he'll go catch passes. We've had him play defensive end. He's had an interception, a sack and a strip fumble.”

Scoresby detailed his special teams score against Idaho Falls, describing how the sequence unfolded after he broke through the line.

“I got to sprint and try and block it, get to that ball,” Scoresby said. “Then when it hit the ground, I mean, it looked like slow motion, and I was just waiting for the ball to make a weird bounce, but I just picked it up and got to the end zone.”

Berger noted that Scoresby consistently makes key plays that inspire and light a spark in the entire team.

"In football, you look for impact players where, every time they're on the field, every series, they have an impact play, and that's definitely what McKay does." Berger said. "That's contagious to his teammates. When he's making plays, that gives them more confidence. And I truly believe that our on-field success as a team starts with McKay."

Scoresby expressed that the environment around the team feels different this season compared to prior years.

"It's just like something different in the air," Scoresby said. "I think everyone has come together and... bought in."

For his senior year, Scoresby has set his sights, and the team's sights, on one goal.

“I mean, I want to be in the playoffs and play in a playoff game,” Scoresby said. “We just got to keep working and getting better. I think that'd be a huge accomplishment for not only the team, but for me to be able to play in one of those in my high school career.”

Berger emphasized that Scoresby's quiet personality contrasts with his intense drive during games.

"What people don't know about McKay is yes, he's a quiet kid, but he is one of our best competitors. He hates losing. He will go out there and give is all."

Friday's game against Idaho Falls came just two days after the one year anniversary of Tanner Scoresby's passing after a fight with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma. Tanner was McKay's brother. Coach Berger noted that seeing McKay have such an impactful performance in the game so close to that anniversary was inspiring and heartwarming to see.
