POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) – The Rigby Trojans overcame a tough start to defeat the Highland Rams Friday night, 21-18, in a 6A High Country Conference match-up. Rigby improves to 7-1 on the season and remains undefeated in conference play. Highland is now 3-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The Rams started the game with a big return on the opening kickoff from Easton Almond that put Highland in good field position to start. That opening drive ended in a field goal for the Rams, and they jumped out to a 3-0 lead.

Rigby's opening drive saw a lot of penalty flags flying, but they were able to keep the ball moving. The drive did stall within field goal range, so Rigby sent out the kicking unit to try and tie the game at 3. On that kick, Highland's Carter Thurman came off the edge and blocked it. The Rams offense took over.

The very next play following the block, Highland gave the ball to Cedric Mitchell, and he went for a long run all the way into the end zone for the score, extending their lead to 10-0. However, Rigby fought their way back into the game and took the win 21-18. The Trojans will close out their regular season on October 23rd against the Madison Bobcats. Highland will end the regular season at home on October 23rd against the Thunder Ridge Titans.
