Sugar-Salem Diggers secure 28-7 win over South Fremont

KIFI

SAINT ANTHONY, Idaho (KIFI) – The Sugar-Salem Diggers are now 7-1 following a 28-7 win over South Fremont on Friday night. The Diggers offense started hot and never looked back, including an opening drive touchdown.

On that opening drive, QB Frank Fillmore found Walter Fillmore, who fought his way down inside the 10-yard line of South Fremont. A few plays later, Walter Fillmore took a handoff from Frank and fought his way into the end zone. South Fremont's special teams unit blocked the extra point attempt, so the score stayed at 6-0.

Later, Sugar-Salem got the ball back with the same score. Frank Fillmore launched a ball downfield for Latrell Markle, who made a diving catch to set the Diggers up just outside the red zone. After a few more plays, Sugar-Salem found themselves on the 2-yard line. Frank Fillmore took the ball himself and punched it in on the QB sneak to put Sugar-Salem up 2 scores.

From there, it was all Sugar-Salem, as they went on to win 28-7. That was Sugar-Salem's regular season finale. Next up for them will be the 4A state playoffs. South Fremont will close out their regular season on October 23rd.
