Shelley shuts out Skyline 41-0 to shore up playoff seeding

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – The Shelley Russets shelled the Skyline Grizzlies in the season finale Friday night, taking a 41-0 shutout win behind a dominant first half performance on offense. Skyline sat at #10 in the Maxpreps.com rankings, while Shelley came in at #11. In the 5A state playoff bracket, the 4 district champs earn byes, while the remaining 8 seeds are determined by those rankings, so both teams needed a win for some security.

The first half was the story here for Shelley. In the pouring rain, their offense was firing on all cylinders. The Russets ran for 322 yards in the first half, and Isaac Albright and Kyrev Hawker each had over 100 yards rushing through the first two quarters. Shelley cashed in with a touchdown on each of their first-half possessions as well, and took a 34-0 lead into halftime.

The win helps Shelley shore up their playoff spot, and now Skyline is completely at the mercy of the Maxpreps computer model.
