All-American Cleaning & Restoration Athlete of the Week – Shelley football trio – Oct. 29, 2026
SHELLEY, Idaho – The Shelley Russets' football team took a dominant win over the Skyline Grizzlies this past Friday. They walked away with a 41-0 win, earning themselves a 5A State Playoff berth. The runnin' Russets absolutely dominated the ground game in the win with 412 total rushing yards and 6 rushing touchdowns. The team's three leading rushers in that game - Kyrev Hawker, Isaac Albright, and Jasen Blakely - combined for all 6 of those touchdowns, and they are our All-American Cleaning & Restoration Athletes of the Week.
Senior Kyrev Hawker took 17 carries for 154 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns in the game, marking his 4th game of the season with at least 100 rushing yards.
"Honestly? Our most exciting game all season," Hawker said. "Everyone's energy was so high, we were hootin' and hollerin' during warmups."
The win secured the school's first 5-win season since 2022, and locked them into a playoff spot.
"It was the most successful feeling," the senior said. "We went out, and everyone did exactly what they needed to."
The second leading rusher was junior Isaac Albright. Albright ran for 121 yards on 7 carries, and led the team with 3 touchdowns in the win. Coming into the game, Albright had 2 total touchdowns the whole season.
“I was coming off an injury," Albright said. "I was trying to get back into the groove kind of, and it felt really good to be a part of the win."
Albright also made note of the teams identity that shines through when they're playing their best.
"Maybe we don't have the size to match other teams, but we have the physicality to do that," he said. "We're going to we're trying to show that through our running game."
The third leading rusher was senior Jasen Blakely. Blakely took 15 touches for 71 yards and a rushing touchdown. That touchdown was the first he's run in this year. Blakely was quick to give credit to those that are blocking in front of the runner, allowing whoever is carrying the ball to spring free.
“Every time a big play is broken," Blakely said, "it goes to our line and the running back who blocks behind him and in front of him and opens up that hole where he goes through."
Now, the team's next test will be against the #8-seeded Blackfoot Broncos. Blackfoot and Shelley last met on August 21st for the season opener. Blackfoot took that game by a close margin, winning 8-7.
This playoff showdown will commence Friday night, October 30th, at 7:00 PM.
