Rigby is Running to the Semifinals after 28-3 win

RIGBY, Idaho (KIFI) – The Rigby Trojans, who use their 'Red Devils' alternate identity in the playoffs, rumbled their way to a 28-3 win over the Madison Bobcats in the 6A state quarterfinals Friday night.

Rigby struck first. On the Red Devils' second drive of the game, Evan Freeman found Karter Oswald for a big gain down to the one-yard line. Madison's defense stood tall on first and second down from the 1, but on third down Evan Freeman took a bootleg himself and ran for the pylon, giving Rigby a 7-0 lead after the extra point.

Madison had an opportunity to put some points on the board in the second quarter. They sent out Brenner Stoddard to try a field goal from around 47 yards out. The junior has an impressive leg, and his kick had more than enough distance, but it flew just left of the uprights and Rigby took over.

Later in the second quarter with the Red Devils' offense just over the 50-yard line, Freeman connected with Oswald again. Oswald caught the ball around the 25-yard line and ran his way down inside the Madison 5-yard line.

Two plays later, Freeman handed the ball Chandler Faulkner and he rumbled in for the touchdown. The Red Devils take the win 28-3 and advance to the 6A state semifinals next weekend. They will take on Rocky Mountain in Rigby.
