Álvarez, Golovkin not leaning on history in trilogy finale

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Four years have passed since the tight rematch between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin that marked the second bout in one of the best rivalries in boxing. Both fighters say their opponent will see someone entirely different across the ring when they meet for the third time. Alvarez has bulked up and down in his quest for new challenges, while Golovkin says he is a more complete fighter with a new motivation to get his first victory in the trilogy. Alvarez says Golovkin will be surprised by how many new skills he’ll show off in Las Vegas.
