Idaho State opens season with a blowout win
POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - After having their season opener canceled on Wednesday, the Idaho State women's basketball team opened the season Saturday afternoon with a 85-61 win over Utah State.
The Aggies could not stop Big Sky first team all-conference guard, Dora Goles. She scored a team-high 24 points for the Bengals.
"It was fun, you know, Dora always has that capability to kind of get going and she's just got such an amazing touch on the ball and amazing feel for the game," Bengals head coach Seton Sobolewski said. "That is always a wild card in every game."
With no fans inside Reed Gym, crowd noise was piped in. For Goles it made her Senior year's home opener feel a little different.
"We couldn't wait honestly," Goles said. "It's been a long preseason. We missed playing and it was weird without the fans but our marketing department had fake fan noise so it kind of made it a little bit better not playing in a quiet gym but overall it was great."
Idaho State hosts preseason WAC favorite, Utah Valley on Wednesday night. Tip-off from Reed Gym is set for 7 pm.
