IDHSAA approves shot clock for 2023-24 basketball state tournaments

BOISE, Idaho (KIFI) - A 35-second shot clock is officially coming to Idaho High School Basketball after the IDHSAA finalized approval of the addition Wednesday for the 2023-24 basketball state tournaments.

Even though it will be close to two years until a shot clock is used at the state tournament, schools can start using a shot clock as early as the upcoming 2022-23 season.

The shot clock was approved as a first reading in early April and officially finalized with Wednesday's vote at the IDHSAA Board of Directors Meeting.

Skyline High School held the first shot clock tournament in the state Idaho this past weekend that featured local teams as well as squads from the Boise and Twin Falls areas.
