Chukars sweep Hawks in a doubleheader to snap a five-game losing streak

BOISE, Idaho (KIFI) - After tying a season-long losing skid Tuesday night, the Idaho Falls Chukars roared back into the win column Wednesday with 16-5 and 4-2 wins over the Boise Hawks in the Highway Series.

Game one was a slugfest early, with the Chuks scoring three runs in the 1st inning and the Hawks immediately answering with five of their own. But from there, Idaho Falls scored 13 unanswered runs and shut down the Boise bats for a dominating victory.

The Chukars offense was alive and well in the first game, while the pitchers took over the second game. Victor Rodriguez starred among three hurlers, tossing 6.0 innings, allowing four hits and zero runs in the win.

Next up, game four of the seven-game set is Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. in Boise. The Chukars hold a 5-3 lead in the Highway Series following both wins Wednesday.
