Chukars pull off series win against Range Riders with a 6-4 victory in last July home game

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - With a 6-4 win Thursday night, the Pioneer League equivalent of a pitcher's duel, the Idaho Falls Chukars picked up their first series victory of the 2nd half, taking two of three from the Glacier Range Riders.

Solid pitching, specifically excellent starting pitching, was key for a Chukars win. Joe Slocum went 6.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on just four hits to record his fifth win of the season. Then, Keagan McGinnis, Jon Nunnally Jr. and Nate Jenkins blanked the Range Riders out of the bullpen.

The pitchers did their job with help from the Idaho Falls bats. A Jose Reyes RBI single and a Tyler Kelly two-run double jumpstarted the Chuks to a 3-0 lead right away, an advantage they would not give up.

Next up, the Chukars begin a nine-game road trip that starts with three more against the Range Riders, this time in Kalispell. First pitch for Friday night's series opener is at 7:05 p.m.
