Grays use big first inning to score a victory and clinch first-round bye in NUL Playoffs

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - The Gate City Grays are the two-seed in the Northern Utah League Playoffs, and they clinched the first-round bye with a 2-1 win over the league-best Hyrum Hornets Monday night.

Gate City got the offense it needed in the 1st inning. Braden Palmer led off the frame with a single, and Slayder Watterson's bunt led to a two-base error, putting runners on second and third with nobody out.

Then, on the first pitch of the next at-bat, Easton Watterson laced a ball to center field for a two-run single and a 2-0 Grays lead. Gate City held on throughout the contest for the win.

Next up, the Grays await their opponent in the second round of the NUL Playoffs.
