Bandits win 3-2 battle over Cheyenne to improve to 2-0 in Regional Tournament

GILLETTE, Wyoming (KIFI) - The Idaho Falls Bandits used another comeback Thursday to take down the Cheyenne Sixers for a 2-0 start to the American Legion Northwest Regional Tournament. It was a good battle that featured two Utah commits facing off.

Merit Jones of the Bandits and Colter McAnelly of the Sixers are both heading to Salt Lake City next season to play for the Utes, and both players took the bump Thursday.

Cheyenne took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning, but Idaho Falls came back in the next two frames to tie the game. That's when a Jones-McAnelly ultimately decided the contest.

In the top of the 5th, Merit took a McAnelly pitch out of the park to left center field for a home run to take the lead for good, and Jones got the win on the mound with a complete game.

Next up, the Bandits take on the Billings Royals Friday night at 7:00 p.m. as Idaho Falls tries to go 3-0 in the tournament.
