Boise State preps for Oregon State as George Holani takes over feature back role

BOISE, Idaho (KIFI) - The Boise State Broncos begin their chase for another Mountain West title Saturday night against Oregon State in Corvallis, a formidable Pac-12 foe. It's the season opener for the Broncos after a 7-5 campaign in 2021, a down season based on Boise State standards.

The Beavers are far from an easy opponent, and it's a chance for the Broncos to make some noise, especially amid the always revolving realignment in college sports.

As every team does, Boise State underwent some changes in the offseason, and that includes redshirt junior George Holani taking over as lead running back.

Holani said he's ready to take a big step up this year with his teammates.

"I'm really confident with this plan that we've got going," Holani said. "Everybody's been buying in with what the coaches have, and it's exciting to see guys move around out there, and it's exciting to showcase what we've got coming into this game."

Kickoff for Saturday's showdown in Corvallis is set for 8:30 p.m. MT.
