Boise State fires Head Football Coach Andy Avalos after close to three seasons
BOISE, Idaho (KIFI) - Boise State has relieved Andy Avalos of his duties as the Broncos' Head Football Coach, per a release from Boise State Athletics.
Avalos went 22-14 in close to three seasons as head coach, and the Broncos are 5-5 so far this season.
A former Boise State linebacker, Avalos took over for Bryan Harsin in 2021 after Harsin left the Broncos to be Auburn's Head Coach.
“I am grateful for the passion, effort and dedication Andy has given to our community and his alma mater while serving as our head coach,” Boise State Athletic Director Jeremiah Dickey said. “Andy will always be a Bronco and we wish him and his family all the best in their next steps.”
Defensive Coordinator Spencer Danielson will be the interim head coach for the remainder of the season, and Boise State said a national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
