Sugar-Salem Shuts Out Snake River 35-0

BLACKFOOT, Idaho (KIFI) — Sugar-Salem wasted little time taking control Friday night, shutting out Snake River 35-0 as both teams looked to bounce back from losses the week before.

The Diggers made their first big play on the opening snap.

Snake River quarterback Colt Baron took a shot downfield, but Latrell Markle intercepted the pass to immediately give Sugar-Salem possession.

The Diggers quickly capitalized. Declan Richins took a pitch to the left and broke into the red zone, setting up a Sugar-Salem touchdown just a couple of plays later.

Sugar-Salem responded with another scoring drive later in the first quarter. Frank Fillmore connected with Kai Benfield down the sideline to move the chains and put the Diggers back in scoring position.

On the very next play, Fillmore faked the handoff, kept the ball himself and took it the distance for another Sugar-Salem touchdown.

The Diggers continued to pull away from there, finishing off a 35-0 shutout victory over the Panthers.
