OVERNIGHT: Snow showers with cloudy skies and lows into the lower 20's.

THURSDAY: A chance of rain and snow with gusty winds. Highs into the upper 30's for the Snake River Plain, with wind gusts around 15-35 MPH.

FRIDAY: A chance of snow with highs close to 40°. Scattered rain and snow showers with wind gusts around 15-35 MPH.

SATURDAY: Partly cloudy with a few snow showers with highs into the lower 30's.

WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM THURSDAY

  • WHAT…Moderate to heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 11 inches, except 6 to 19 inches on ridge tops and elevations above passes. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph especially for the ridge tops. Blowing and drifting of snow is expected.
  • WHERE…Emigration Summit, Wayan, Pine Creek Pass, and Swan Valley.
  • WHEN…Until 6 PM MST Thursday. There will be lingering light snow this afternoon into early evening. The next wave of moisture, which will intensify the snow, will start after midnight and continue through Thursday afternoon. Winds will remain breezy to moderate, especially for the Wasatch this afternoon. However, the stronger winds sustained over 25 to 30mph with gusts near 45 mph will occur late Thursday morning into the afternoon.
  • IMPACTS…Travel will be very difficult to impossible at times. Patchy blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. Brief white out conditions are likely, especially for higher elevations. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute and likely the evening commute on Thursday. Gusty winds will bring blowing and drifting of snow.
