Freeze Warnings and Frost Advisories

Low pressure sits to our southeast this evening. We have a few isolated snow showers possible tonight in southeastern Idaho and western Wyoming. Otherwise, clearing and freezing through the Snake River Plain. Low temperatures will reach the upper 20’s. Winds will be out of the north around 10-15mph. The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning and Frost Advisory for early Tuesday morning:

FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM MDT TUESDAY…

  • WHAT…Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 20 expected.
  • WHERE…Arco/Mud Lake Desert and Upper Snake River Plain.
  • WHEN…From midnight tonight to 9 AM MDT Tuesday.
  • IMPACTS…Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

FROST ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 9 AM MDT TUESDAY…

  • WHAT…Temperatures as low as 26 will result in frost formation.
  • WHERE…Eastern Magic Valley and Shoshone/Lava Beds.
  • WHEN…From 3 AM to 9 AM MDT Tuesday.

Sunny for Tuesday with a high temperature in the lower 60’s for the Snake River Plain. Light winds from the southwest around 5-10 mph.

Sunny for Wednesday morning, with clouds and a few showers and thunderstorms for the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the mid 60’s.

On Thursday, showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. High temperatures for the Snake River Plain will reach the mid 60’s.
