Tracking showers and 50mph wind gusts

KIFI

Cold front and we mean it. Chances of showers this morning then possibly a thunderstorm by afternoon. Wind advisory 8 am this morning to 9 pm - you can expect southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 50mph.

This includes the eastern magic valley, Shoshone/lava beds, Arco/Mud lake  desert, lower Snake River plain, and upper Snake River plain. Gusty winds make driving difficult for trucks and trailers. Tie down the trampolines and yard ornaments.

Chances of rain and mountain snow through this morning, making roads slick and impairing visibility on roads and interstates. Highs today only in the lower 60s.  50s in the mountains and 40s with the towns near Great Divide. We are 20 degrees below average for high temps this time of the year. However, with low pressure leaving the region, we bounce back to the 70s and 80s this week and prep for a warm and pleasant 4th of July on Saturday.
