Extreme heat warning and heat advisories posted for this weekend

Strong high pressure to the south, tapping into hot air, will take our daytime high temperatures well into the mid 90’s and low 100’s. We’re starting to see this warmup for Friday. The National Weather Service has posted several heat alerts for this weekend

For Thursday evening, there is a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms. Otherwise, mostly clear with a low temperature in the mid 50’s.

Sunny for Friday with highs in the lower 90’s. Light and variable wind becoming south southwest 10 to 15 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Sunny for Saturday with a high temperature in the upper 90’s and low 100’s. A breeze for the afternoon with winds around 10-15 mph.

Sunday will be sunny and hot, with a high near 100°.

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON SATURDAY TO 9 PM MDT SUNDAY:

  • WHAT…Temperatures up to 101 expected.
  • WHERE…Portions of central, eastern, south central, and southeast Idaho.
  • WHEN…From noon Saturday to 9 PM MDT Sunday.
  • IMPACTS…Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses.

EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON SATURDAY TO 9 PM MDT SUNDAY:

  • WHAT…Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 102 expected.
  • WHERE…Franklin/Eastern Oneida Region, Marsh and Arbon Highlands, Raft River Region, and Southern Hills/Albion Mountains.
  • WHEN…From noon Saturday to 9 PM MDT Sunday.
  • IMPACTS…Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events.
