Breezy for Thursday and Friday with a few thunderstorms

Breezy conditions across eastern Idaho will continue through Friday as scattered showers affect the central mountains. Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the entire region on Sunday and Monday.

The approaching weather pattern is driven by a low-pressure system setting to the northwest that will swing farther inland and move toward the northeast. This system will pull moisture from the southwest and attempt to tap into moisture from Hurricane Marie off the coast of Baja.

For Wednesday night, skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy with low temperatures in the upper 40s. South winds between 10 to 15 mph, with gusts reaching up to 25 mph. Thursday will begin mostly cloudy before gradually clearing to sunny conditions, with high temperatures near 75°. Central Idaho could see thunderstorms developing late Thursday night into early Friday.

Partly sunny skies are expected on Friday, along with a chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms. High temperatures across the Snake River Plain will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s. South-southwest winds between 10 to 15 mph will bring gusts as high as 30 mph. Saturday is forecast to be sunny with highs near 78°, though showers and thunderstorms remain possible in the central mountains through Saturday.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase areawide on Sunday and Monday. Partly cloudy skies are forecast for Sunday, with high temperatures reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s.
