Scattered storms with cooler temperatures for Friday and Saturday

A slow-moving storm system will bring periods of showers and thunderstorms to eastern Idaho and western Wyoming through Saturday, keeping temperatures noticeably cooler than average for September. Some thunderstorms could produce strong wind gusts up to 35 mph along with locally heavy rainfall. Areas near recent burn scars should remain alert for the possibility of flash flooding if heavier downpours develop.

Tonight, will feature numerous showers and thunderstorms throughout the evening before activity gradually decreases overnight. Expect mostly cloudy skies with temperatures falling to around 50°. Winds will generally remain light, around 5 to 10 mph, shifting from the south to the northeast overnight.

Friday brings another round of unsettled weather. After a relatively quiet morning, scattered showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread during the afternoon and evening. High temperatures will struggle to reach 70°, with light winds generally around 5 to 10 mph. Rain chances remain high through the day and continue into Friday night, when temperatures cool to around 45° to 50° under mostly cloudy skies. South winds will stay around 5 to 10 mph overnight.

The weather remains somewhat active on Saturday, although rainfall coverage will be lower than Friday. Expect a mix of sun and clouds with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Afternoon highs will only reach the lower 60s, with light southerly winds around 10 mph. A slight chance of lingering showers remains Saturday night as temperatures fall back into the mid-40s.

Looking ahead to Sunday, conditions improve as the storm system moves away. Sunshine returns and temperatures rebound into the lower 70s.
