More details unveiled for day two preliminary hearing for the murder of ArlyneKoehler

A California teen will be heading to trial for the murder of an elderly Pocatello woman.

The judge ruled Wednesday there was probable cause for Dustin Garrett Alfaro, 18, to go to trial.

87-year old Arlyne Koehler was found brutally stabbed and killed inside her home in March.

Ada County forensic pathologist Garth Warren took the witness stand Wednesday saying his autopsy showed Koehler had been stabbed more than 55 times.

He says several vital organs were punctured, including her heart, which filled her chest cavity with more than a liter of blood.

He says she was stabbed many times, it was nearly impossible to determine the fatal blow.

Pocatello police detective Robert Sampson took the stand and explained how the two teens landed as his prime suspects.

He says a woman called Pocatello Police with information linking the teens to the murder. That’s when he contacted law enforcement in Yuba County, California, which eventually led to their arrest.

Isaac Rodriguez-Romero will be in court Thursday for his preliminary hearing.

Although he’s being tried separately from Dustin Alfaro, his preliminary hearing is also expected to last until Friday.
