Mountain America Credit Union honors first responders with lunch

A local credit union honored area first responders on 9/11 with lunch for Patriot Day.

Mountain America Credit Union teamed up with Chik-fil-A in Ammon to provide lunch for local police and fire departments. KIDK Eyewitness News 3 tagged along as the credit union employees surprised the Idaho Falls Fire Department and Ammon Fire Department with chicken sandwiches, chips, drinks, and cookies.

“It’s huge to us because we know that the community is behind us and support us. We know that they are proud of what we do in serving them and we appreciate every time something like this happens. It’s great,” said Jon Molbert, public information officer for the Ammon Fire Department.

“These types of things when we’re surprised with meals or a handshake or a thank you, it’s remembering those 343 firefighters that died, the 60 additional police officers that perished, but nearly the 3,000 people that died that day. That’s what we really need to never forget,” said Chief Duane Nelson, with the Idaho Falls Fire Department.

The team later delivered to the Bonneville County dispatch center. In fact, this was a statewide offering from Mountain America. The credit union also teamed up with other area restaurants to provide lunch for:

Pocatello Fire Deptartment, Chubbuck Police/Fire Department, Rigby Fire Department, Shelley Police Department, Blackfoot Fire Department, and Rexburg Fire Department.

The credit union also provided the same gesture for first responders in the Treasure Valley.
